Please be advised the Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) wants to make the FAMU community aware of ransomware, malware that prevents or limits users from accessing their system, known as “Locky.”

The malware is sent via email with an attachment posed as an invoice. Once the user clicks the attachment, it will infect all files on the computer, prohibiting the user from accessing any files and directing the user to a website to pay a fee. ITS advises users not to click on any attachments from an unknown user, especially with the description stated above.

If your computer experiences ransomware like this, please contact the Helpdesk at 850-412-4357 or submit a TMS at www.famu.edu/tms.
